I used Stacy Will's technique of making the water look like it has movement and also copied her idea of candy swirls but made mine mini-whirlpools for the centre of this Mandala. However, now I look I have a similar 'candy swirl' pattern on a plantpot that I have on my desk from the 60s or 70s that I use to hold pencils. I did this one in honour of my oldest son, Evan who loves blue and is a water baby. I had genuine moments of joy colouring in the swirls and curlicues - it is like being a child with a new set of markers withdrawn from the world.
