Peace to the Haida

Finished March 28, 2009 - Earth Hour Day

This was the mandala that I started back around Valentine's Day and worked on at the Mandala Workshop I put on at the Library on March 21st.

I was drawn to the Haida art style but not to their slave owning, warring history - so instead of the traditional symbols I have a dove of peace at the heart of the mandala and some West Highland White Terriers.

This one was a fun one to do - I got a lot of help and inspiration from the book Looking at Indian Art of the Northwest Coast by Hilary Stewart
